Strawberry Chocolate Martini

While Max enjoys his strawberry milk before bed, I like to wind down with the "grown-up" version. This Strawberry Chocolate Martini is essentially a chocolate-covered strawberry in a glass. It is silky, indulgent, and the perfect shade of pastel pink for a romantic evening or a treat-yourself Friday night. Max calls it "the swirl drink" because I always draw a little chocolate maze on top of the foam.

Why You Will Love This Strawberry Chocolate Martini

You will love this recipe because it strikes the perfect balance between fruity and rich. It isn't cloyingly sweet like some dessert cocktails; the sharp bite of vodka cuts through the creamy chocolate liqueur. It looks incredibly elegant with a chocolate spiral floating on the surface and a fresh berry garnish, making it look like a high-end bar creation right in your living room.

How To Make Strawberry Chocolate Martini

To get that beautiful opaque pink color shown in the picture, we use real cream (or half-and-half) shaken with strawberry vodka and chocolate liqueur. The key to the presentation is shaking the cocktail vigorously until a thick foam forms on top. This foam acts as a canvas, allowing us to drizzle a chocolate syrup spiral on the surface without it sinking immediately to the bottom.

Strawberry Chocolate Martini Ingredients

The Boozy Base

  • 2 oz Strawberry Vodka (or vanilla vodka)
  • 1 oz White Crème de Cacao (or white chocolate liqueur)
  • 1 oz Heavy Cream or Half-and-Half (for that creamy pink look)
  • 1 teaspoon Grenadine (optional, if you want a deeper pink color)

The Garnish

  • Chocolate syrup (in a squeeze bottle for precision)
  • 1 fresh strawberry; hull intact

Step by Step Method

Chill the Glass

  • Place your coupe or martini glass in the freezer for 5 minutes so it is frosty.

Shake

  • Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice.
  • Add the strawberry vodka, white crème de cacao, and heavy cream.
  • Shake vigorously for at least 20–30 seconds. You want to feel the shaker get ice cold and create a nice froth.

Strain

  • Strain the mixture smoothly into your chilled glass. It should be a creamy, pale pink color.

The Chocolate Swirl

  • Starting from the center of the drink, gently squeeze the chocolate syrup in a tight spiral motion outward.
  • Mom Tip: Do this quickly while the foam is fresh so the chocolate sits on top like in the photo!

Garnish

  • Cut a small slit in the bottom of a fresh strawberry and perch it on the rim of the glass.

MAX’S REACTION

"Mom made me a 'mock-tini' with strawberry milk and chocolate syrup! I tried to make the swirl on top but mine turned into a chocolate puddle. It still tastes good though!"

What Pairs Well With Strawberry Chocolate Martini

This drink is a dessert on its own, but it pairs beautifully with dark chocolate truffles or a slice of cheesecake. For a savory contrast, a charcuterie board with brie and salty crackers works surprisingly well to balance the sweetness.

Strawberry Chocolate Martini Variations

Espresso Twist

Add 1 oz of freshly brewed espresso to create a Chocolate strawberry espresso martini. The coffee bitterness cuts the sweetness and adds a caffeine kick.

White Chocolate

Use Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur instead of Crème de Cacao for a richer, more buttery White chocolate strawberry martini.

Frozen Slush

Blend the ingredients with a cup of ice for a Strawberry chocolate alcohol drink that feels like a boozy milkshake.

The "Shortcake"

Rim the glass with crushed graham crackers before pouring. It tastes exactly like strawberry shortcake.

Equipment

  • Cocktail Shaker
  • Strainer
  • Coupe Glass (as seen in the image)
  • Squeeze bottle (for the chocolate design)

Storage / Make Ahead / Serving Tips

Make Ahead

You can mix the vodka, liqueur, and cream in a pitcher and keep it in the fridge for a party. Shake individual servings with ice right before serving to get the foam.

Temperature

This drink must be served ice cold. If the ingredients are warm, the cream might separate or feel too heavy.

The Swirl

If you don't have a squeeze bottle, dip a toothpick in chocolate syrup and drag it through the foam to create hearts or swirls.

Top Tips for Best Strawberry Chocolate Martini

If you can't find strawberry vodka, you can use regular vodka and muddle two fresh strawberries in the shaker before adding the ice. Double strain it (using a fine mesh sieve) when pouring to keep seeds out of your teeth. Also, shake hard! The aeration is what gives it that velvety mouthfeel.

Strawberry Chocolate Martini FAQs

Can I use chocolate milk?

You can, but it will turn the drink brown. To keep that pretty pink color, stick to clear chocolate liqueur and white cream.

What if I don't have Crème de Cacao?

You can use chocolate syrup inside the shaker, but again, the color will be darker. A clear chocolate liqueur is best for aesthetics.

Is this gluten-free?

Most distilled vodkas are gluten-free, but always check the flavorings. Tequila Rose is a popular gluten-free alternative for the strawberry cream component.

Can I make this dairy-free?

Yes! Use full-fat canned coconut milk or oat creamer instead of heavy cream.
