Ingredients
  

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour Plus more for dusting
  • 1 packet instant yeast 2 ¼ tsp
  • 1 cup milk Warm (110°F)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar For yeast
  • 1 ½ teaspoon salt For dough
  • 1 egg Room temperature
  • 3 tablespoon butter Melted (for dough)
  • 6 tablespoon butter Softened (for filling)
  • 4 cloves garlic Minced
  • 3 tablespoon fresh herbs Parsley, basil, oregano
  • 1 ½ cups mozzarella cheese Shredded
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese Grated

Equipment

  • 1 Stand mixer With dough hook
  • 1 Loaf pan 9x5 inch
  • 1 Rolling Pin Standard
  • 1 Knife Sharp, for cutting dough

Method
 

  1. Mix flour, yeast, sugar, salt, warm milk, egg, and melted butter; knead for 7 minutes.
  2. Let dough rise in a warm, greased bowl for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  3. Roll dough into a rectangle; spread with garlic-herb butter and top with cheeses.
  4. Roll into a log, cut lengthwise, twist the halves together, and place in a loaf pan.
  5. Let rise for 30 minutes. Bake at 375°F for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

For a distinct swirl, ensure you cut the rolled dough log lengthwise and twist with the cut sides facing up. Use fresh herbs for the best color and flavor.
