- Hull and dice strawberries. Toss with 2 tablespoon sugar and lemon juice. Let sit for 15 minutes.
- Whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. In another bowl, mix egg yolks, buttermilk, vanilla, and butter. Combine wet and dry.
- Beat egg whites to soft peaks. Gently fold into batter, then fold in the macerated strawberries.
- Heat waffle iron. Cook until golden and steam stops. Serve with extra strawberries and toppings.
