Method
 

  1. Butter 9x13 baking dish generously.
  2. Layer bread slices snugly in single layer.

  5. Cover and refrigerate 8–24 hours.
  6. Melt butter, add brown sugar, syrup; stir until smooth.
  7. Stir in pecans, salt, and vanilla.
  8. Pour pecan mixture evenly over soaked bread.
  9. Bake uncovered at 350°F for 45–55 minutes until golden.
  10. Let rest 10 minutes, top with syrup or whipped cream.
