Equipment

  • Medium saucepan (For simmering tea)
  • Fine-mesh strainer (For removing solids)
  • Vegetable peeler (For orange zest)
  • Measuring cups (For water portions)

Ingredients

  • 2 large Fresh oranges - For peels and zest
  • 3 sticks Cinnamon sticks - Broken into pieces
  • 4 cups Filtered water - Clean base for brewing
  • 4 whole Cloves - Optional aromatic depth
  • 1 inch Fresh ginger - Sliced thin
  • 2 tablespoons Honey - Natural sweetener
  • 2 pods Cardamom - Optional exotic warmth
  • 1 piece Star anise - Optional licorice notes

Instructions 

  • Wash oranges and peel strips of zest avoiding white pith
  • Break cinnamon sticks into smaller pieces for better extraction
  • Add water to saucepan and bring to medium heat
  • Add orange peels, cinnamon pieces and optional spices to water
  • Bring to gentle simmer then reduce heat to low
  • Let simmer 15-20 minutes for full flavor development
  • Remove solids using fine-mesh strainer or leave for rustic style
  • Add honey while hot and stir until dissolved
  • Pour into mugs and garnish with orange slices if desired
