  • 1 lb ground beef Lean preferred
  • ¼ cup ketchup For tangy sweetness
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard For burger flavor
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce For savory depth
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese Shredded
  • ½ cup red onion Finely diced, divided
  • 2 tablespoon fresh parsley or cilantro Chopped for garnish
  • ½ teaspoon salt and pepper To taste

Equipment

  • 1 9-inch pie dish For assembling the pie
  • 1 Large skillet For browning the ground beef
  • 1 Wooden spoon For breaking up the meat
  • 1 Fork For pricking the pie crust

Method

  1. Unroll the pie crust into a 9-inch dish, crimp the edges, and pre-bake at 400 degrees for 8 minutes so the bottom sets.
  2. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat until no pink remains to ensure the meat is fully cooked.
  3. Drain the excess grease from the skillet completely so the pie filling does not become overly oily and soggy.
