Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ cups All-purpose flour - Spoon and level for accuracy
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter - Softened brown ¼ cup for richer flavor
  • ¾ cup Granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup Brown sugar - light Packed
  • 2 Large Eggs - Room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon Pure vanilla extract - Use high-quality vanilla
  • 2 cups Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips - Semi-sweet
  • 1 cup Chopped nuts - Optional walnuts or pecans

Instructions 

  • Bring butter and eggs to room temp. Preheat oven to 375°F. Line baking sheets.
  • Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  • Beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  • Mix in eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture.
  • Stir in chocolate chips and optional nuts.
  • Cover dough and let sit for 1 hour.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons onto lined baking sheets.
  • Bake for 9-11 minutes until edges are golden.
  • Let cookies rest on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack
