Ingredients

  • 2 oz bourbon whiskey - Mid-range quality
  • ½ cup fresh blackberries - Plus extra for garnish
  • 1 oz lemon juice - Freshly squeezed
  • 1 oz maple syrup - Or simple syrup
  • 1 cup ice cubes - For shaking and serving
  • 1 wedge lemon - For garnish

Instructions 

  • Place blackberries and maple syrup in a cocktail shaker and muddle until juicy.
  • Add bourbon, lemon juice, and ice to the shaker.
  • Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until cold.
  • Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Garnish with a fresh blackberry and lemon wedge before serving.

Notes

Double strain the drink to remove blackberry seeds for a smoother texture. Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor brightness.
