  • 2 oz bourbon whiskey Mid-range quality
  • ½ cup fresh blackberries Plus extra for garnish
  • 1 oz lemon juice Freshly squeezed
  • 1 oz maple syrup Or simple syrup
  • 1 cup ice cubes For shaking and serving
  • 1 wedge lemon For garnish

Method
 

  1. Place blackberries and maple syrup in a cocktail shaker and muddle until juicy.
  2. Add bourbon, lemon juice, and ice to the shaker.
  3. Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until cold.
  4. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice.
  5. Garnish with a fresh blackberry and lemon wedge before serving.

Notes

Double strain the drink to remove blackberry seeds for a smoother texture. Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor brightness.
