- Combine ground meats, parmesan, breadcrumbs, eggs, onion, garlic, herbs, and seasonings
- Let meat mixture stand 10 minutes for breadcrumbs to absorb moisture
- Press half meat mixture in pan, add mozzarella, top with remaining meat
- Shape and seal edges to completely enclose cheese filling
- Brush top with olive oil, then marinara sauce for golden finish
- Cook at 350°F for 45-55 minutes until internal temperature reaches 160°F
- Let stand 10 minutes before slicing to set juices and cheese
- Slice and garnish with fresh parsley, serve with extra marinara
Notes
You can substitute ground pork with Italian sausage or adjust herbs based on availability. Add crushed red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
