Ingredients

For the Casserole

  • 1 loaf French bread or brioche - Cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 8 large Eggs -
  • 2 cups Whole milk -
  • ½ cup Heavy cream - Adds richness
  • ½ cup Granulated sugar -
  • 2 teaspoon Vanilla extract -
  • 1 tablespoon Ground cinnamon -
  • ¼ teaspoon Ground nutmeg - Optional but recommended

For the Cinnamon Sugar Topping

  • ¼ cup Granulated sugar -
  • 2 tablespoon Ground cinnamon -
  • 2 tablespoon Butter, melted - Helps topping crisp up

For Serving

  • Whipped cream - Optional topping
  • Fresh berries - Optional garnish
  • Powdered sugar - For dusting

Instructions 

  • Cut bread into cubes and dry slightly.
  • Whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, and spices.
  • Layer bread in greased baking dish.
  • Pour mixture evenly over bread, press gently.
  • Cover and refrigerate 8–24 hours.
  • Sprinkle cinnamon sugar and drizzle melted butter.
  • Bake uncovered at 350°F for 45–55 minutes.
  • Let rest 10 minutes before serving.
  • Dust with powdered sugar and top with syrup or berries.
