Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups whole milk - Base liquid
  • ½ cup heavy cream - For thickness
  • 6 oz dark chocolate - 60-70% cocoa, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar - Optional sweetener
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract - Flavor enhancer
  • 1 pinch sea salt - Enhances chocolate
  • ½ teaspoon espresso powder - Optional depth
  • 1 cup whipped cream - Topping
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate shavings - Garnish
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup - Drizzle

Instructions 

  • Heat milk, cream, sugar, and espresso powder in a saucepan over medium heat until bubbling at edges.
  • Reduce heat to low; add chopped chocolate, vanilla, and salt.
  • Whisk constantly until melted, glossy, and smooth.
  • Simmer on low for 2-3 minutes to thicken further.
  • Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream, syrup, shavings, and cocoa powder.

Notes

Use a high-quality chocolate bar (not chips) for the smoothest texture. Simmer gently to thicken before serving.
