  • 2 Puff Pastry Sheets Thawed
  • 1 ½ Cups Fresh Strawberries Sliced
  • 4 Ounces Cream Cheese Softened
  • ½ Cup Powdered Sugar For filling and glaze
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract For flavoring
  • 1 Large Egg For egg wash
  • 1 Tablespoon Coarse Sugar Optional for sprinkling
  • 2 Tablespoons Heavy Cream For the glaze

Method
 

Prepare Ingredients
  1. Thaw puff pastry according to package instructions.
  2. Slice strawberries, soften cream cheese, and prepare an egg wash by whisking 1 egg with 1 tablespoon of water.
Shape the Pastries
  1. Roll out puff pastry sheets on a floured surface.
  2. Cut into squares and score a ½-inch border on each. Brush borders with egg wash.
Assemble the Pastries
  1. Spread cream cheese mixture (cream cheese, ¼ cup powdered sugar, and vanilla extract) in the center of each square.
  2. Arrange sliced strawberries on top
  3. Sprinkle with coarse sugar if desired.
Chill the Pastries
  1. Chill assembled pastries in the fridge for 15 minutes to firm up and enhance flakiness.
Bake the Pastries
  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Bake pastries for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Make the Glaze
  1. Combine powdered sugar, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and lemon zest in a small bowl.
  2. Whisk until smooth.
Cool and Glaze
