Prepare the Patties
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, and onion soup mix.
- Mix gently with hands until just combined. Do not overwork.
- Shape into oval patties (about ½-inch thick).
Brown the Patties
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add a little oil if needed.
- Sear the patties for 3-4 minutes per side until browned.
- Remove and set aside.
Make the Gravy
- In the same skillet, add butter and sliced onions.
- Cook until soft.
- Sprinkle in flour and stir continuously for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
Finish the Dish
- Gradually pour in beef broth while whisking to avoid lumps.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Return the patties to the skillet and simmer for 10 minutes until thickened.
