Ingredients

  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed Kept chilled for easy rolling
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened Room temperature for easy spreading
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced Finely minced for deep garlic flavor
  • 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese Provides an irresistible cheese pull
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese Adds a salty, savory bite
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chives, chopped Brings mild onion freshness

Equipment

  • 1 muffin baking tin Standard 12-cup muffin pan
  • 1 Chef Knife Sharp knife for splitting dough
  • 1 Rolling Pin For flattening pastry

Method

  1. Roll thawed puff pastry sheets out thin on a floured board.
  2. Mix softened butter and minced garlic together until smooth and spreadable.
  3. Spread garlic butter evenly over both pastry sheets using a spatula.
  4. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheese across the buttered dough base.
  5. Roll each dough sheet tightly into a firm log from long edge.
  6. Slice logs in half lengthwise with a sharp knife to expose layers.
  7. Twist split dough strips loosely into spirals with exposed layers facing out.
  8. Place spirals into a greased muffin tin and bake at 400°F for 25 minutes.

Notes

Keep the puff pastry cool while working; cold dough allows the butter layers to steam in the hot oven and puff up dramatically.
