Ingredients

  • 1 whole Fresh pineapple - Ripe but firm trimmed and cored.
  • 2 tablespoon Unsalted butter - For the caramelization process.
  • ¼ cup Brown sugar - Adds sweetness and helps with caramelization.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract - Adds flavor depth.
  • 1 pinch Salt - To balance sweetness.
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon - Optional flavor enhancer.
  • 1 tablespoon Dark rum or bourbon - Optional for deglazing and adding flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Orange or lime zest - Optional for added citrus flavor.

Instructions 

  • Trim, core, and cut pineapple into uniform slices.
  • Heat the butter in a skillet until melted.
  • Stir in the brown sugar to caramelize.
  • Place the pineapple slices in the skillet and cook, flipping to caramelize evenly.
  • Stir in vanilla extract at the end.
  • Spoon sauce over caramelized pineapple and serve.
