Ingredients

  • 0.25 cup Cocoa powder Unsweetened
  • 0.25 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cup Water
  • 0.25 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 2 shots Espresso Or 0.5 cup strong coffee
  • 1 cup Milk Dairy or non-dairy
  • 2 tablespoon Chocolate sauce From above (or to taste)
  • 0.25 cup Whipped cream For topping (more if desired)
  • 2 tablespoon Mini marshmallows For topping
  • 1 tablespoon Graham cracker crumbs For rim/topping
  • 1 tablespoon Chocolate shavings Optional

Equipment

  • Mug
  • Small saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Espresso machine or coffee maker
  • Milk frother or steamer
  • Measuring cups/spoons

Method

  1. Whisk cocoa, sugar, water, salt in a small saucepan. Simmer 2 minutes, then stir in vanilla and remove from heat.
  2. Brush mug rim with a little chocolate sauce, then dip into graham cracker crumbs.
  3. Pull 2 espresso shots (or brew strong coffee).
  4. Heat/froth milk until hot and foamy.
  5. Add 2 tablespoon chocolate sauce to the mug, pour in espresso, then top with steamed milk.
  6. Spoon whipped cream on top and sprinkle a pinch of graham crumbs and chocolate shavings.
  7. Add mini marshmallows on top (skip torching indoors—use marshmallow fluff or pre-toasted marshmallows if you want that flavor).

Notes

For a stronger coffee flavor, use dark roast beans or 3 espresso shots. You can also serve iced—just cool the espresso and use cold milk and ice cubes.
