Ingredients
  

  • 14 oz smoked sausage Andouille or Kielbasa, sliced
  • 1.5 cups white rice Long grain, uncooked
  • 3 cups chicken broth Low sodium
  • 1 medium yellow onion Diced
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning Adjust to taste
  • 3 tablespoon honey For glaze
  • 3 cloves garlic Minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce For umami
  • 1 tablespoon butter Unsalted
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley Chopped garnish

Method
 

  1. Sear sliced sausage in a large skillet until dark golden brown; remove to a plate.
  2. Sauté onion in the drippings, then add rice and Cajun seasoning; toast for 2 minutes.
  3. Add chicken broth, bring to boil, cover, and simmer for 15-18 minutes until tender.
  4. Whisk honey, garlic, and soy sauce. Stir into cooked rice with butter and sausage.
  5. Toss until coated and glossy; garnish with parsley before serving.

Notes

Sear the sausage well for the best texture. Adjust cayenne pepper to control the heat level.
