- Preheat oven to 450°F and place butter in 9x13 inch baking dish
- Put dish with butter in oven until butter melts completely, about 5 minutes
- Mix flour, sugar, and salt together in large mixing bowl
- Pour cold buttermilk into dry ingredients and stir just until combined
- Spoon dough portions directly into melted butter, spacing evenly
- Bake 20-25 minutes until golden brown with crispy edges
- Remove from oven and serve warm while butter is still bubbling
Notes
Make sure the buttermilk is cold for the fluffiest texture. Do not substitute self-rising flour to ensure the perfect rise and consistency. These biscuits are best served warm!
