Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F and place butter in 9x13 inch baking dish
  2. Put dish with butter in oven until butter melts completely, about 5 minutes
  3. Mix flour, sugar, and salt together in large mixing bowl
  4. Pour cold buttermilk into dry ingredients and stir just until combined
  5. Spoon dough portions directly into melted butter, spacing evenly
  6. Bake 20-25 minutes until golden brown with crispy edges
  7. Remove from oven and serve warm while butter is still bubbling

Notes

Make sure the buttermilk is cold for the fluffiest texture. Do not substitute self-rising flour to ensure the perfect rise and consistency. These biscuits are best served warm!
