Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef - 80/20
  • 0.5 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce - Hickory flavor
  • 0.25 cup bourbon - Whiskey
  • 4 sub rolls - Hoagie style
  • 8 slices mozzarella cheese - Or provolone
  • 6 slices bacon - Cooked and chopped

Instructions 

  • Mix beef, pork, crumbs, and egg. Form into balls and bake at 400°F for 18-20 minutes.
  • Simmer BBQ sauce, bourbon, sugar, and vinegar for 10 minutes until thick. Toss meatballs in sauce.
  • Place meatballs in toasted rolls. Top with cheese and broil until melted.
  • Top with crispy bacon bits and fresh parsley. Serve hot.

Notes

Use a high-quality bourbon for the best depth of flavor. Ensure the bacon is extra crispy to provide a texture contrast to the melted cheese.
