Step 1: Preparation
- Prep Time: 5 minutes
- Preheat oven to 325°F
- Set up roasting pan
- Start heating water for bath
- Warm milk slightly
Step 2: Mix Custard
- Prep Time: 10 minutes
- Beat eggs gently
- Add sugar gradually
- Stir in warm milk
- Add vanilla and salt
- Strain mixture
Step 3: Bake
- Cook Time: 35-40 minutes
- Fill custard cups
- Sprinkle with nutmeg
- Place in water bath
- Bake until set but still jiggly
Step 4: Cool
- Cool Time: 30 minutes
- Let cool in water bath
- Remove from bath
- Cool completely
- Refrigerate if desired
